Valentines Baking with Love: Strawberry Buttercream Cookies

Hey there! I’m Ashley from @red.ridge.roots on Instagram, and I’m so excited to be guest blogging for Palouse Brand. I’m a devoted wife and mother of three, with baby number four arriving this spring. My passion for homesteading on our five-acre property has led me to embrace traditional skills, from gardening and preserving food to milling my own flour and creating delicious, wholesome meals for my family. There’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of knowing exactly where your food comes from, and that’s why I love working with high-quality ingredients—like the fresh-milled flour from Palouse Brand!

Cookie dough

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I wanted to share a special recipe that captures the sweetness of the season—Strawberry Buttercream Cookies. These cookies are the perfect way to celebrate with loved ones, combining the bright, fruity essence of strawberries with the richness of a buttery, airy frosting. Using flour made from high-quality wheat berries enhances the flavor and texture, bringing a fresh, nutty sweetness that pairs beautifully with the lightness of the buttercream.

Why Palouse Flour?

Palouse Brand is dedicated to providing the highest quality flour, sourced from wheat berries grown right in Washington State. Their flours are 100% whole grain, non-GMO, and completely free from preservatives and additives. Plus, they’re certified glyphosate residue-free by the detox project, meaning you can feel good about what you’re baking with.

Ingredients

For this recipe, I’m using their Multi-Purpose Flour, a soft white wheat flour that’s stone ground and freshly milled. It has a delicate balance of nuttiness and subtle sweetness, which gives these cookies a delicious whole wheat character without being too heavy. The natural sweetness of the wheat berries complements the strawberries, making this the perfect flour to achieve the ultimate Valentine’s treat.
