Ingredients

  • 75 ml water
  • 2 ½ tsp yeast
  • 1 tbs maple syrup
  • 250 ml milk
  • 3 tbs olive oil
  • 500 g spelt flour
  • 1 tsp salt

Directions

  1. Combine the water, honey and yeast in a large bowl. Stir and let sit for 10 minutes.
  2. Add the milk, olive oil, salt, and flour. Stir until a dough forms. Kneed for 6-8 until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Place dough in a large greased bowl, cover, and let rise for one hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 350degrees. Punch it down gently, and place into a greased loaf pan. Cover and let rise until it has doubled in size.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
  6. Let cool before cutting.

I have made this recipe 2 times now and is it ever good. I used maple syrup both times and the first time I made bread. The second time I made rolls and they turned out fabulous. Thx so much for this recipe. It is a keeper. I milled my own spelt flour, so good.

i am lost the instructions mention add honey etc but recipe does not call for honey calls for maple syrup?
