Washington Grown Spelt

How To Cook Spelt

  • 1 Cup Clear Creek Spelt
  • 3 Cups Water
  • Rinse the spelt, add 3 cups water to a pot, bring water to a rolling boil. Add spelt then simmer for 40-60 minutes or until desired tenderness. Drain well.

Grown In Washington

Our Spelt is family farmed in the heart of Washington State, guaranteeing superior quality and supporting local farms. Our Spelt is Non-GMO, Vegan and Non-Irradiated.

Baking Tips for Spelt

  • Spelt for Wheat: In many recipes, spelt flour can be substituted for wheat flour at a 1:1 ratio.
  • Adjusting Liquid: Spelt absorbs liquid more slowly than wheat. You may need to reduce the liquid content or allow the dough to rest longer.

Mill into Spelt Flour

Whole spelt berries, perfect for home milling into fresh spelt flour, can be used to create nutritious spelt breads and other baked goods. Spelt flour contains less gluten compared to wheat flour while offering superior nutritional benefits.

Spelt makes delicious bread

"Delivery and quality are both excellent. I really enjoy the flavor of spelt in my whole grain loaves as a change to red wheat."

So good!

"Used so far to make cream of wheat and it was delicious! All products I have received have not disappointed…."

Love milling my own flour

"Love milling my own flour love the taste"

Problem

"Yes there was chaff in this order of all my grains, it messed up all the baking I wasn’t going to sit and pick every single one out because it was a lot. 😞 sales might not be best to buy at then."

Essa (2/5)

Coarse chaff not removed

"There was chaff in this, up to half an inch long and quite thick. I had to pick it out by hand. Even though I mill my grains and bolt (sift) the flour, the sharp edges of this part of the plant can be very irritating to the GI tract. This is NOT Palouse brand, which is my favorite, always clean and the best grain I have found for milling. I hope that the Palouse standards will not be compromised by processing in the same way as this Clear Creek brand. I don't know what the relationship is between the two companies, but I don't think Palouse should offer such an inferior product on their website."
